Special Edition Saturday – October 1, 2016

Great show today, even though I was kind of flying solo.  Tom called in with his weekly business wrap-up and Ben was called away on some kind of tech emergency.

My guest today is Lee Stranahan, investigative journalist and the writer/director/producer of The Bloody Road to Philadelphia: The Truth About Black Lives Matter.  We discuss the history of the BLM movement and why much of what you may believe about the movement is wrong.  There is a long and sordid history behind the movement that goes all the way back to the violent Black Panther movement of the 60s.  Fascinating conversation.

Special Edition Saturday – September 24, 2016

The show got interrupted a bit by drop-ins from the remote broadcast from the Gathering, being held in downtown Waterbury, but Ben and I still had some time to talk about a couple of different topics.  We even had a chance to interview my personal mixologist MJ, a current resident of Charlotte, NC, about  the situation on the ground there.

We also spoke with Dave Krechevsky about the 11th annual 5k run to help support Bob Viellette, scheduled for October 1.

Yeah, we’re back and with a vengeance!!

Fiery show today.  Loved the drama and the topics.  Somedays, I really wish we had more time…

Our guest today is Luther Weeks, from CTVotersCount.org where we discussed voter fraud.  Very interesting discussion with some pretty revealing information.

Couldn’t say the name of today’s drink on the air, but I think MJ referred to it as the “Dicking Bimboes” in our e-mails.  Either way, it’s a good ‘un.

Special Edition Saturday – June 25, 2016

Last show until September, although I will be filling in for Larry Rifkin on Talk of the Town August 1, 2 and 3.

Great way to end the season, with Tom Hill in studio, a new feature from Dave Iannone at Ann’s Deli and then Suzanne Bates from the Yankee Institute joining us live in studio for the entire second hour.

And what sounds like a fantastic drink for the summer from MJ.

Thanks to everyone who listens and calls.  Look forward to having a relaxing summer, then back at the SES microphone after Labor Day.

Once more, the guys have found other stuff to do today, so I brought a couple of guests into the studio with me.  I also asked my lovely wife Tammy to join me as my special co-host.  She doesn’t say much, but when she does…..

Starting in the first hour, I welcome CT State Senator Joe Markley into the studio, where we discuss the recent special legislative session, and what we can look forward to from Hartford from next year.

Then, in the second hour, we welcome Dr. John McHugh, podiatrist to the producer, to discuss a number of topics, including foot health and how it relates to one’s the overall health, electronic medical records, as well as Dr. Jack’s other projects.

Special Edition Saturday – June 11, 2016

Flying solo again today, so I brought my son Jon with me to act as my co-host.

Today’s guest is Anne Constantino, the President and CEO of Horizon Corporations. In this role she leads the development and implementation of strategic and annual operating plans for Horizon Health Services, Horizon Village and Health Management Group.

Horizon offers drug rehab services and Anne and I discussed the incredible growth in opioid abuse across the country.  The numbers of opioid drug deaths are increasing dramatically, and Anne and her company provide help to those who are trying to break that addiction.

Special Edition Saturday – June 4, 2016

Flying solo today, but my guest did a pretty good job of co-hosting most of the second hour.

Today, I finally got to to talk to Meathead Goldwyn, proprietor of amazingribs.com and the author of “Meathead: The Science of Great Barbecue and Grilling.”  We had a great time and he gave us some great information.  So many grilling and smoking myths getting busted by Meathead, it’s almost impossible to keep up.

I have long relied on amazingribs.com, ever since I got my first smoker years ago. Fantastic resource with great information, great recipes and great advice.

So whether your a novice who wants to get started or someone who has been grilling and smoking for years, there is definitely something in Meathead’s book for you.

Oh, and MJ told us how to make infused vodkas.  Which was nice.
