Special Edition Saturday – February 27,2016

Today’s guest is Yale, a future guide dog who is currently being raised by his person, Sheila LaMothe, a volunteer pet raiser for Freedom Guide Dogs.

While most guests of SES seem to really enjoy themselves, Yale seemed a little less than impressed to be on the radio.

Here’s some pics of possibly the cutest dog in the world:

Special Edition Saturday – February 20, 2016

Our guest on today’s show is Corey Shaker of the Shaker Auto Group, to discuss the proposed legislation that would allow Tesla to sell their cars without having to go through dealerships.  Once again, the government tries to pick winners and losers, as opposed to simply allowing for a level playing field and letting the free market work.

Ben and Steve also discuss the recent controversy around the FBI’s request to Apple to have them remove some of the security tools in place on the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino shooters.  Complicated case.

This week’s drink:  The El Diablo

1.5 oz Tequila
.5 oz creme de cassis
Ginger beer

Build in a cocktail glass. No shaky-shaky.

Damn, it’s cold out there! “Life-threatening” cold hits Connecticut and we speak to Mitch Gross of Eversource, Sophia Swaby of St. Vincent du Paul Mission and Joe Geary, Waterbury Mayor O’Leary’s chief of staff, to talk about the services being provided during the dangerous weather, as well as how to stay safe.

We also speak with Jude Eden, writer for the PoliticalAnimalBlog.com and Stream.org, about the potential effect of women having to register for selective service.

Enjoy!

Another great show.  Even got MJ to return with a great Super (snicker)… a great Super Bowl…  (snicker snicker)… okay, a pretty girly drink.

He lives in North Carolina and he forgot there was a Super Bowl game the next day.

Hmmmm…..

Our guest is Brandon Finnegan from the Decision Desk HQ, a great website and newsletter for political junkies like me. Brandon also does election analysis and actually was the first to call the results of the 2016 Iowa caucus.  He’s a really great guy and super-smart.  We discussed the Iowa caucus, the upcoming New Hampshire primary and the election season so far.

Packed show today. CT State Senator Joe Markley stopped by to give us a preview of the upcoming legislative session in Hartford.

Then, in the second hour, singer-songwriter Mike Greca stopped by with his drummer Chuck Peterson to talk about his new CD, “Convergence.”

No DotW, as MJ was busy moving to his new digs.
