Special Edition Saturday – November 29, 2014

Post Thanksgiving show, with special guest, the Boogie Boys, who stopped by to promote their fundraisers November 30 at 2pm at Shamrock Pub and Grill in Waterbury and Black-eyed Sally’s in Hartford on January 10th at 9pm. The guys are raising money for their trip to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Jan 20 – 24, having won the CT Blues Society challenge. Great music and great conversation.

And, as always, we closed out with my personal mixologist, MJ, telling us how to make Black & Tans, Half & Halfs and Snakebites.

Special Edition Saturday – November 8, 2014

The Great Plains edition of SES (No Hills). As usual, I’m joined by my co-host, Ben Mills.

We spoke with Suzanne Bates of the Yankee Institute re: this Op-Ed piece, “Connecticut’s Publicly-Funded Campaign System Is A Joke” that she posted at CTNewsJunkie.com

And the drink of the week this week is a Bloody Mary. I think you’ll be as stunned as I was when you hear MJ’s recipe.

Another fun show.  In the first hour, we did the usual.. biz news with Tom Hill, IT discussion with Ben Mills and Dave’s always hilarious Joke of the week.

In the second hour, we are joined in-studio by Dr. John McHugh, Podiatrist to the Star™!  We all talked about the nurse from Maine who fought her quarantine, as well as finally holding the Ugly Foot Contest.  (You’ll have to listen to find out who won.)

We closed out with MJ telling us all the recipe for the perfect Manhattan:

2 1/2oz Rye Whiskey

3/4oz sweet vermouth

dash of bitters

Shaken and served either over ice or in a martini glass, with a garnish of an orange peel
