The final show of the season.  Always seems to so far away when the season starts, then suddenly.. it’s over.

Our guest today was CT State Senator-elect Len Suzio.  We talk about Len’s plans for when he takes his seat in Hartford.

Thanks to Ben, Tom and MJ for another awesome season.  I had a lot of fun and I hope you all did as well.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to everyone!

Talk of the Town, December 1, 2016

Larry Rifkin took the day off, so I was invited to fill in for him on Talk of the Town for the day.

First hour, I talk about Fidel Castro and the Southern Poverty Law Center, before welcoming Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg to the show.  Dr. Goldberg and I discussed the differences between the common cold and the flu, as well as strategies on how to avoid them and/or treat them.sneezing_cat

In the second hour, I take some calls and then say hello to Kara Newman, the author of Shake, Stir, Sip:  More Than 50 Effortless Cocktails Made in Equal Parts.  I highly recommend this book.

Things get really busy in the third hour, first with Lois Anderson from the Friends of Mark Twain House to discuss the 36th Annual Holiday House Tour.  I then speak to CT State Comptroller about the continuing budget crisis and whether the problem is finally being taken seriously in Hartford.  And then I welcome Michelle Seiler-Tucker, author of Sell Your Business for More Than It’s Worth to talk about the prospects of a Trump economy.

Last show before the election of 2016 mercifully comes to an end (hopefully.)

Our guest in the first hour was Bob Santy of the CT Economic Resource Council.

Then the show was just me, Ben and Tom freewheeling, discussing anything that amused us.  Including Food News!

Well, the election is less than 3 weeks away, so the lies about Connecticut’s economy from the Malloy administration are back and better than ever.  Just weeks after telling his department heads that we are facing yet another budget deficit, Gov. Dan Malloy told State Comptroller Kevin Lembo that everything is awesome!  One of these things is untrue.

If we look at Gov. Malloy’s history of blatantly lying to the citizens of Connecticut just prior to important elections, it’s very hard not to imagine that he is once again lying to help keep his party in power in Hartford so they can implement new taxes, fees, revenue enhancements, whatever you want to call them.

It’s going to get a whole lot more expensive to live in Connecticut if this lie works. Again. And sadly, it will. And the economy here will continue to bounce along the bottom, politically-connected friends will continue to receive millions in government “loans” and businesses small and large who are not connected will continue to either close or move out.  It’s the inevitable result of Malloy’s policies and he has shown no evidence of changing.

Meanwhile, the lies keep coming louder and larger from his party, up and down the ballot.  And I am seriously sick of being treated like an idiot.  Anyone who believes these lies is either a fool or cares more about power than about honesty.

And speaking of lying liars who lie, our guest today is Rachel Anderson, a Senior Editor at The Stream.  We discuss this column, 18 Reasons (So Far) Leaked Podesta Emails Reveal Dishonest Side of Clinton, Her Campaign and Media Collusion, which no one in the mainstream media seems to want to discuss.

Last show until September, although I will be filling in for Larry Rifkin on Talk of the Town August 1, 2 and 3.

Great way to end the season, with Tom Hill in studio, a new feature from Dave Iannone at Ann’s Deli and then Suzanne Bates from the Yankee Institute joining us live in studio for the entire second hour.

And what sounds like a fantastic drink for the summer from MJ.

Thanks to everyone who listens and calls.  Look forward to having a relaxing summer, then back at the SES microphone after Labor Day.

Once more, the guys have found other stuff to do today, so I brought a couple of guests into the studio with me.  I also asked my lovely wife Tammy to join me as my special co-host.  She doesn’t say much, but when she does…..

Starting in the first hour, I welcome CT State Senator Joe Markley into the studio, where we discuss the recent special legislative session, and what we can look forward to from Hartford from next year.

Then, in the second hour, we welcome Dr. John McHugh, podiatrist to the producer, to discuss a number of topics, including foot health and how it relates to one’s the overall health, electronic medical records, as well as Dr. Jack’s other projects.

Special Edition Saturday – June 4, 2016

Flying solo today, but my guest did a pretty good job of co-hosting most of the second hour.

Today, I finally got to to talk to Meathead Goldwyn, proprietor of and the author of “Meathead: The Science of Great Barbecue and Grilling.”  We had a great time and he gave us some great information.  So many grilling and smoking myths getting busted by Meathead, it’s almost impossible to keep up.

I have long relied on, ever since I got my first smoker years ago. Fantastic resource with great information, great recipes and great advice.

So whether your a novice who wants to get started or someone who has been grilling and smoking for years, there is definitely something in Meathead’s book for you.

Oh, and MJ told us how to make infused vodkas.  Which was nice.
